The actress took the stage and danced to the beat of her popular song “Desi Girl” from Dostana. She was joined on stage by Indian pugilist Vijender Singh. Together the duo set the stage ablaze with their dance moves.

56th Idea Filmfare Awards announced by Katrina Kaif

56th Idea Filmfare Awards announced by Katrina Kaif : Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif on Tuesday announced the opening of 56th Idea Filmfare Awards.

The awards will felicitate the best talents and best films of the year 2010. At Shangri-La Hotel in New Delhi, Katrina lit the lamp and announced the upcoming awards open.

Looking lovely in a short beige dress, Katrina said: “Filmfare is a great magazine and its awards' night is most coveted and magical.”

She added that the competition this year is going to be very tough.

“If I were to be on the jury of Filmfare Awards 2010, I'd say it's a seriously tough year with films like 'Dabangg', 'My Name is Khan', 'Raajneeti', 'Guzaarish', 'Golmaal 3' and others in the fray,” Katrina said.

The 56th Idea Filmfare Awards will be held early in 2011.

Salman Khan’s Dabangg won big awards from Big Star Entertainment: The award season has taken off with the Big Star Entertainment Awards held in Mumbai on Tuesday night. And guess what? Salman Khan’s superhit film Dabangg won five trophies.

The film, starring Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, and directed by Abhinav Kashyap, bagged the awards in five categories: Best Actor, Best Film, Best Director, Best Entertaining Song (for Malaika Arora’s Munni Badnaam Hui) and Best Male Singer award for the Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for “Mast Mast Do Nain”.

The award show was a star-studded event with Bollywood bigwigs like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, Karan Johar, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani.

Legendary actor Dharmendra won the Big Star Entertainer award for 50 years of glory. It’s akin to lifetime achievement award.

The full award show will be aired on December 31 on Star TV.

Asian Sexiest Man title win Ranbir Kapoor: Ranbir Kapoor has oodles of sex appeal and it was just confirmed by the UK’s Eastern Eye, a London’s weekly. Ranbir got the title of ‘Sexiest Asian Man’ after winning the votes that was conducted by Eastern Eye. The Kapoor junior has easily beaten the hunks like John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan to bag the title.

According to the Asjad Nazir the showbiz editor of the weekly, Ranbir lead the voting by a huge margin, the second position went to John and the third spot was claimed by Hrithik. Jay Sean the international R&B singer got the fourth place and Ali Zafar the Pakistani singer –actor had to be satisfied with the fifth spot.

Ranbir is pretty elated to be named the ‘Sexiest Asian Man’, and he stated that though he knows that most of his fans are females, but “it feels good”. He further stated that if women didn’t find him attractive he would have definitely doubted himself and would have considered that something was wrong with him.

Well we knew it from before that nothing is wrong with Ranbir and he can now be sure that everything’s fine with him. As Nazir said that considering the high profile names that were in the list, Ranbir winning it with an overwhelming margin is a big thing and Ranbir’s fans will agree with the editor too.

A R Rahman nominated for Oscars Awards

A R Rahman nominated for Oscars Awards: Indian music composer A R Rahman is making waves in Hollywood yet again.

He’s already secured a nomination for Golden Globe Awards in the Best Original Score category for Danny Boyle’s film 127 Hours. Now, his song “If I Rise” from the same film has been shortlisted for the possible nominees in the Best Song category for the Oscars.

The song “If I Rise” is a collaboration between Rahman and American popstar Dido.

Rahman faces tough competition from other artists who have made it to the shortlist. The Academy members are particularly strict while choosing nominees for Best Song. Though at most five songs can be nominated, there have been times when only three or two songs were considered fit for nomination.

The Oscar nominees will be announced on January 25.

Will A R Rahman win a Golden Globe Awards?: A R Rahman has won a Golden Globe assignment in the Best Original Score distinction for his music in the picture 127 Hours.

The Indian musician had previous won a Golden Globe and several Oscars in 2008 for his score in Danny Boyle's picture Slumdog Millionaire. Incidentally, 127 Hours, for which Rahman has now sacked the Golden Globe selection, is additionally steered by Boyle.

Rahman’s compositions in the film have been described by critics as “haunting tracks” with “wonderful crescendos”.

Other nominees in the same category include: Alexandre Desplat for The King's Speech, Danny Elfman for Alice in Wonderland, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for The Social Network and Hans Zimmer for Inception.

Nicole Faria become a new Miss Earth: Bangalore girl Nicole Faria has been crowned Miss Earth after winning the 10th edition of the Miss Earth pageant held in Vinpearl Land, Nha Trang, Vietnam. Nicole is ecstatic and feels that she is on top of the world.

In May, Nicole had won the title of Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth and how she has become the first girl from India to be crowned Miss Earth.

Not to be ignored and well aware of the instant comparisons that are being made between her and previous pageant winners, Nicole already has several green ideas on her mind. After winning the crown she said, “I’m being compared with Aishwarya Rai and Sushmita Sen. It is a really big responsibility. I know I’m entering the big league. It is something that I am eagerly looking forward to. The spotlight’s already on me.”
